HOW MUCH WATER ARE YOU DRINKING?
‘Water’ may well just be the magic pill that you are sodesperately after!
Every cellular function within your body relies on properhydration; including your heart, brain, lungs, kidneys, liver and digestivetract.
Our blood is also made up of approximately 60% water, so staying hydrated is of upmost importance.Anything less will compromise your health.
Did you know that dehydration can express itself through many symptoms?
Some of these include:
Thirst or false hunger
Joint pain
Dry mouth
Weakness or fatigue
Headache or migraine
Dizziness
Decreased urine output or dark coloured urine
Constipation
Over-heating
Low mood
Don’t be fooled and think that drinking a few coffees, cupsof tea or some alcoholic beverages each day is going to keep you in good stead. These beverages do quite the opposite. They are natural diuretics which means thatthey expel fluid from the body and contribute to dehydration. These drinks actuallycause greater water loss than the amount of fluid you consume.
Everyone’s individual water intake varies depending on age, activity level, weight, size and climate. According to Harvard University, a healthyperson requires anywhere between 0.8L and 1.5L per day.
Fluid doesn’t just need to come from a glass of water (pure water is of course the best option), it can also be consumed in the form of:
Broth/soup
Herbal teas
Coconut water
Try filling up a one litre bottle of water each morning andsip this throughout the day.
By adding rock salt to your diet (not the processed whiteform), it will ensure your hydration. Sufficient sodium in your body worksalongside potassium to ensure your fluid levels are maintained. A low level ofsodium in your diet can cause dehydration and excessive thirst.
Also ensure you are eating a diet full of fresh fruit andvegetables. These beautiful foods are also very hydrating for the body.
So, for the next week I challenge you to………
Eliminate any beverages that you consume exceptfor PURE FILTERED WATER.
Consume a minimum of 1 Litre per day
Those of you that are religious coffee drinkers, this may bedifficult and come with a few withdrawal symptoms. But I promise after one weekyou will feel the positive effects.
I have seen first- hand the profound positive impact thissimple habit can have on one’s health. Be brave, you can do this! Find a friendand do it together.
For the courageous individuals who complete this challenge, please let me know how you feel on day seven. Your feedback may just motivateothers to give this a go as well. Good luck!
